SAFE LIFTING PRACTICE FOR SLINGERS/BANKSMAN

Objective:

The Learner will be able to do inspect lifting equipment and perform safe lifting operations

Content:

  • Center of gravity (loads)
  • Types of slings (wire, chain etc)
  • Spreader and equalizer beams
  • Inspection of Lifting Equipment
  • Slinging Methods
  • De-rating Factors
  • Determining load mass (estimating)
  • Lifting Procedures
  • Other Lifting Equipment (Hooks, rings, links, swivels, eyebolts, turn buckles, blocks etc.)

Duration:

1 Day, Min 10 Learners / Maximum 15

Target Population:

An advanced course for Crane Operators, Slingers or Banksman.

RIGGING & SLINGING (Advanced PART I)

  • Objective: After successful completion of this module, you will have the necessary knowledge and skills to:
  • Discriminate between lifting tackle and lifting machines
  • Know the examination and test frequencies for each
  • Correctly complete inspection log sheets

This module will focus on the following:

ADVANCED RIGGING & SLINGING (Part 1 and 2)

Objective:

To skillfully perform specialized lifting of loads by means of a crane.

Content:

  • Determining load mass (calculations)
  • Center of gravity (calculations)
  • Types of slings (wire, chain etc)
  • Other Lifting Equipment
  • Inspection of Lifting Equipment
  • Advanced Slinging Methods (Rotation of loads, transverse slinging and tandem lifts, etc.)
  • De-rating Factors
  • Lifting Procedures

Duration: 5 Days, Min 5 Learners / Maximum 8
